History
Our story begins in 1893, and since then thousands of people have worked around the company's looms, weaving their different ideas and projects. Today one can sum up this rich narrative in two concepts: innovation and creativity.
Maintaining and pursuing this goal with constant passion, the company has diversified its product offer over the years, developing both the textile and chemical sectors. An important strategic decision taken in the 1950s then paved the way for the ennoblement of the textile range. In the second half of the Twentieth century, between the '70s and the '90s, this integration made it possible to invest in research and development dedicated to leather goods, accessories, clothing, footwear, and even the automotive sector.
Year after year, Limonta has grown, succeeding in the difficult yet fundamental undertaking of preserving the soul of craftsmanship in an industrial body. And true to this spirit, we are always ready to invest in exciting companies and innovations on the market.
Partly as a challenge and partly by vocation, as early as the 1990s we chose to follow the path of sustainable growth, which today more than ever, continues to act as the group’s guiding compass.

At the end of the Nineteenth century the first generation of the Limonta family began the production of tapestries and jacquard fabrics, and right from the start, the company distinguished itself for the high level of care dedicated to each product. In 1919, Limonta Battista & Figli was established, becoming Limonta Fratelli in 1941.
1920
In the first decades of the century the company’s production was diversified: gobelin, matelassé, velvet and jacquard appeared on national and international markets. Limonta acquired an extensive culture in textiles that is still one of the group's greatest strengths today.
1960
A fundamental turning point for the future development of the company took place at the beginning of the 1960s with the decision to invest in a new technology: a thermoplastic polymer coating. This innovation was brought to Italy by Cavalier Giovanni Battista on his return from his travels in the United States and Germany, allowing Limonta to introduce the novelty of coated fabrics to the Italian textile market.
1970
Since then, development has continued harmoniously, touching on different segments of the clothing market: from fabrics for raincoats and technical use, to lighter cottons for informal wear or silky nylons, all while maintaining and perfecting all its experience.
1980
Between the '70s and '90s, production complexity and capacity continued to expand thanks to chemical-textile integrations. In these years, Limonta diversified further, including clothing, leather goods, footwear, accessories and wallpaper in its range, and started to produce synthetic turf.
1990
From the '90s onwards, well ahead of its time, the company set out on a path of constant, sustainable growth: many investments were made in recent years to promote technological innovations aimed at an optimized use of resources, reduced environmental impact and the search for increasingly eco-friendly products that combine technical performance with high stylistic value.
