The themes presented at the exhibition: “Heritage Alpha”, “Borderless”, “Misplaced” make their début between textile novelties and artistic reinterpretations of the Limonta hundred-year-old archive.
Tradition, innovation and reinterpretation are the keywords that led Limonta to participate in the last edition of Lineapelle (Hall 9 - Stand C21 C29 D22 D30, February 22nd-24th, Fiera Rho Milano).
With "Heritage Alpha" the new collection wants to meet and impress the tastes and aspirations of the "Alpha" generation, the young consumers who will come, without giving up the own tradition. Hence the research, conducted by the product development team, to trace, within the hundred-year-old archive, iconic techniques and fabrics to be reinterpreted and re-proposed in a contemporary key, updated with pop colours and made with sustainable materials and cutting-edge production technologies. A double intervention, as well as a double challenge: to act on the fabric and its sustainable development, to guarantee technical performance combined with high stylistic value without betraying its own DNA. The result are linen and cotton canvases with BCI certification, oiled and waxed water-based fabrics, bio-sourced and 100% recycled nylon.
The "Alpha" generation to which Limonta is addressed, is inclusive and does not know any gender, label or border. This being "label-less and borderless", both at the level of destination of textile materials and of creative interpretation, is what revolves around the "Borderless” theme. Limonta, thanks to the verticality that distinguishes it on the market and the heterogeneity of its product offer, breaks down the borders between sectors and pushes itself to the search for synergies between the various divisions that make it up: clothing, accessories, footwear, furniture. Ultralight nylon froissés are bonded to heavy jerseys, innovative PU based coated canvases, metallized and printed, coexist with rustic-style linen canvases, nylons acquire a rubberized touch.
The third strong theme of the season is "Misplaced", an overlap of intended uses, materials and processes that are not intended for a specific category only. We find, in fact, articles capable of adapting from time to time, of being applied to different and unlimited realizations of finished products. PU becomes yarn and it is suitable to be woven on traditional looms; jacquards overlap with digital prints; tapestries are coloured with pop colours and acquire new technical performances.
Precious historical fabrics taken from the archive and revisited in a contemporary key by the young hand of the artist Nicolò Giacomin enrich the Limonta stand: Gobelins from the early twentieth century, satins with a metallic and three-dimensional effect, jacquards with natural yarns with a striped theme have been redesigned with specific lettering techniques and special varnishes on the plexiglass frames within which the fabrics, like works of art, become the protagonists of the scene.
The project conceived by the creative team of Limonta and entrusted to Giacomin is part of the various collaborations with artists, illustrators and graphic designers started last year to describe the Limonta archive in an innovative way.
Not only historical fabrics, but also contemporary pieces have been touched by the hand of the artist who created the lettering of the banners hanging inside the stand reproducing the three themes: Borderless, Heritage Alpha, Misplaced. Designed by Giacomin, they were then printed by Limonta on varnish effect coated cotton drill, creating a perfect combination where art is meeting technique.
